Buying Tips
Read the Advert Carefully
It’s easy to get carried away when we see something that looks good in a photo, but of course, it’s much better to take an in-depth look at each of the details that the seller has provided to ensure it will be ‘the dress’ for us.
Sizing is always an issue when buying a dress. The trouble with dress sizes is that they vary tremendously from label to label. That’s why we recommend visiting the seller and trying the dress on for size. This might not be quite as important for the dresses that are being offered by shops as they will often have a refund policy (though it’s always best to ask). It is always best to think of the size provided by the seller as an approximate size.
Ask the seller if there is any damage on the dress (most pre-worn dresses have at least a few marks here and there). Think carefully before buying a dress that has not been cleaned by the seller. Often stores selling ex-display samples will not clean them, but as a plus point, they will have generally only been tried on indoors or on a catwalk.
Some of the dresses on this site will be new ones that have not been worn, where a dress was ordered by a store in error or a bride has changed her mind or a wedding has been cancelled. These dresses tend to command a higher price, but it is still possible to find a real bargain.
